A relatively young winery founded in 2001. They own about 220 hectares and produce attractive, almost fresh Riojas, primarily from Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, and Mazuelo. In addition to American oak (80%), they also use 20% French oak.
The wines of Bodegas Medievo are characterized by their lively fruit expression. This is achieved through temperature-controlled fermentation. As such, this wine producer can be categorized among the modernists. Cool fermentation and subtle use of oak are central to this group, in contrast to the traditionalists who prefer wine with a mature and oxidative character that undergoes long aging in American oak barrels.
