Zweigelt from loess

The Zweigelt vom Löss from Josef Dockner is a surprisingly versatile red wine from Austria's Kremstal region. Zweigelt is Austria's most widely grown red grape, and in the hands of the Dockner family, it shows its best side: soft, fruity, and accessible. The wine matures on the characteristic loess soils around Göttweig, which gives it a fine minerality and elegance. A special feature of this wine is that it is also delicious served slightly chilled — ideal for summer or with lighter dishes.

Estate information:
Winemaking has always played a major role in the life of the Dockner family. The children were almost literally spoon-fed the wine bug, and the youngest generation has also taken wine to heart. The family owns 65 hectares of land in the Kremstal, 50 hectares of which are planted with grapes. They produce about 600,000 bottles per year. In addition to primarily steel-aged white wines, the family also produces fine wood-aged red and sparkling wines.
